  3. Fort Building—this is a great way to knock out some energy and have fun while doing it. You can even make a competition to see who can build the most creative, or the biggest fort.
  4. Outdoor Fun—This is a great time to take advantage of the outdoors. This could mean more bike rides, or even fun backyard activities. You could host picnics in the yard, set up a fun obstacle course, or bring out the slip n’ slide.
  5. Pool Time—Pools have seemed to be a safe place to play during this time, as they are able to stay relatively clean, so make the most of it.
  6. Spring Clean- This is a great opportunity to purge on old toys, clothes, etc. You can have your kids sit down and go through all of their things with them and decide if anything should be given away or donated. (be sure to take proper cleaning measures)
  7. Cook or Bake Together—This could be a really fun way to add some education and fun into your children’s days. They can learn how to add fractions, or just make a fun treat. (For older kids, you can even challenge them to convert metric units to cups, tablespoons, etc.)
  8. Board Games—an easy go to, that certainly will keep kids busy for hours. If board games aren’t available, make sure to never underestimate the power of Tic-Tac-Toe
  9. Puzzles—Puzzles are another great way to keep your children’s brains active, and a good way to use some down time.
  10. Plant a Home Garden—There is never a better time to start planting your own family garden. This is another great way to teach your kids a new fun skill. If going outdoors isn’t an option, consider an indoor herb garden.
  11. Muzzy or a Language Learning Program—This could be a great time to pick up the skill of learning a new language. There are tons of options out there, everything from Muzzy to Duo Lingo. Maybe challenge one another to see who can pick up a language quicker.
  12. Scholastic Website—The Scholastic website has tons of educational games, videos and more to keep your children’s brains active, while also providing hours of fun.
  13. Coloring Books—These are a great way to keep kids busy, while also allowing them to relax, during a stressful time. Never underestimate the benefit of basic coloring. If books are unavailable, there are plenty of resources online to print out coloring pages from.
  14. Yoga for Kids—Another great way to practice mindfulness during this time, is to incorporate Yoga into your children’s daily routines. YouTube has plenty of great options for children’s yoga classes. Turn one on, and let your kids practice their best poses.
  15. FaceTime Family and Friends—This may sound strange, but socialization is important, no matter what age you are. Maybe make time to have your kids call family members, or close friends. Be sure to teach kids the importance of checking in on loved ones during times like these.
