Fortunately for all who live in the city of Tampa and wish to enjoy a night on the town, there are plenty of transportation options to avoid getting behind the wheel when you’ve had one too many. And we’re not even talking about the boring bus and taxi route; you’ve got water taxis, bike taxis, streetcars, and more! Better yet, for those who want to venture out of Tampa and check out the night life in St. Petersburg, there’s the new Cross-Bay Ferry, a 98-ft long vessel that will start its six-month pilot program on Friday, November 4. Here we spotlight a few of the fun (and safe) modes of transport based in the city of Tampa, including the bay area’s hottest new boat ride.
Cross-Bay Ferry: Getting to and from St. Pete has never been cheaper, easier, or more fun! One-way tickets are only $10 for adults, $8 for children, and free for kids ages 3 and under. The Cross-Bay Ferry will carry up to 149 guests with indoor and outdoor seating and travel two trips per day Sunday through Friday and three trips on Saturdays. Start or end your adventure at the Tampa Riverwalk or St. Pete Downtown Riverfront.
Tampa Historic Streetcar, Inc.: Tampa’s very own streetcar replica recaptures the charm of the good old days and takes you anywhere you want to go in a 2.4 radius between downtown Tampa, Channelside, and historic Ybor City. Coming soon – a 1/3-mile extension that will extend the system north to Franklin Street to Whiting Street and the Fort Brooke parking garage. Rides start as low as $1.25!
Tampa Water Taxi: What’s better than a scenic, waterfront taxi ride right through downtown Tampa? Tampa Water Taxi services include $5 one-way rides within downtown, $20 round trip rides to Ricks on the River, and $7 one-way rides to Water Works Park and Ulele.
Tampa Bay Bike Taxi Co.: Another fun way to get through town is with Tampa Bay Bike Taxi Co, a full service pedicab/bike taxi company that offers point A to point B transportation, historical tours, pub tours, and special event services. You can find them in Ybor City and other hot spots in the Tampa area.
And of course there is always Uber or simply calling a cab – both much cheaper (and safer) than a DUI.
