On Friday, February 11, 2011, Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church hosted its 3rd Annual Valentine Banquet Fundraiser. The evening was kicked off by The Big Band, performing classics such as, “Mr. Zoot Suit,” “I’ve Got a Gal” and “String of Pearls.” Dinner was served shortly after with the menu including grilled teriyaki chicken breast, roasted vegetables and rice pilaf. The room was filled with over 230 attendees that enjoyed dancing, a delicious dinner and the company of each other. The night was kicked into gear with a gift giveaway and the ever-so-humorous annual Newly/Oldie Wed Game. The fundraiser, which sold out, raised over $2,000. All proceeds from the banquet were presented to the Lake Magdalene Youth for their Mission’s Fund.
Lake Magdalene would like to extend a thank you to The Big Band performers (under the direction of Jeff Bradford), all the contestants of the Newly/Oldie Wed Game, Val Mallory, Rev. Richard Nussel, Linda Kuder and John Jacobs for the giveaway donations, Jackie and Joey Herres for working the sound booth, the sitters in the nursery, the facilities team for setting up Heritage Hall, Bob Blagg and the youth for serving the guests. A special thank you to B.J. Warrick and the entire kitchen crew, John Castro and Tim Hebert, for grilling over 250 entrées, and to Jeanette Abbott for organizing the entire event.
